I’m back at it again, making ambitiously awesome things out of those floorboards I found on the side of the road earlier this year (remember when I wrote about using them to patch the stairwell?). It’s about time that I put them to good use, those boards have been collecting dust and threatening tetanus sitting unattended to in the basement, acting all menacing, nail-riddled, and seducing in the dark, dirty corner that we purposefully don’t traffic.
If you haven’t caught on already, not only do I really love me some hardwood floors, but I really love me some big picture frames, so it only seem appropriate that I merge the two at some point. Large frames are suitable for prints both big and small with the right mat, and offer so much to a big blank wall. Big frames, big frames everywhere, bring ’em on.
Never have I created such a custom frame, though. Built entirely from oak floorboards, it’s a one-of-a-kind piece that will make you think twice about throwing out those wood scraps. Check out this week’s post on DIY Network to see it in all its glory.
