DIY Network: Mad Organizational Skillz

This whole holiday-recovery thing is cyclical, and it’s pretty obvious after just a few years of taking it on myself in my own home that if we don’t learn how to deal with the onslaught of gifts, boxes, and super holiday-rific home decor early on, we’re doomed every holiday season until the day we die.

OK, that’s a bit dramatic, but really, unless you’re a total hoarder, how can you feasibly bring in more stuff every year without getting rid of other things? I spent the entire week between Christmas and New Year’s and all of New Year’s Day uncluttering, simplifying, packing up unnecessary goods, and making our little home feel 10x as spacious. You can read more about my efforts in today’s post on DIY Network.

Get down and organize your life in 2013.

P.S. If anyone local to Rochester, NY wants some vintage cookbooks, I have a bunch that I can deliver.

I feel like I declutter our apartment on a regular basis, and yet there are always too many books overflowing on our shelves.

And as for those vintage cookbooks, I know somebody who would be very excited about that Bukowski book, but I’m not local to Rochester. I hope those books end up in good hands!

Hah! I was just thinking the other day (while measuring for the bookshelves above/in our fridge surround) “we may need more cookbooks”. I totally need to declutter in other aspects, though!
