Last week we said goodbye to Cody. Our partner-in-DIY. Codeman. The one who was at his happiest when he was by our side. The buddy who you’ve gotten to see on this blog. He was simply awesome. He came to live with me at age 1, just 3 months after I bought my first home and a full year before I began this blog. He was a total companion dog who assumed his role perfectly and saw me transition through enormous life stages like marrying, moving, and babies.
Best remembered for his morning snuggles, nonstop talking, high-speed sprinting, and those silly face buttons that made his lips curl like Elvis. Honored for his loyalty. Loved his purple toy, walks on the beach, anyone walking down our street, naps in the Jeep, watching wildlife, and snow.
Thanks to those of you who have reached out with kind messages. We are happy to have been his people.

((((sniff sniff)))) This made me cry. I will miss seeing Cody too — he was a beautiful dog with a great spirit. I’m so sorry for your loss. R.I.P. Cody, on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge……you’ll always be in our hearts. <3
He was my Buddy….Loved him!
Having gone through have two different dogs put to sleep in their old years, I don’t know if I have had worse emotional pain. Sorry to hear about Cody. Wish you the best in recovering from the loss.
I have to admit, I haven’t frequented MerryPad for a while, just came back in the New Year to see what inspiration might pop up. So sad that Cody the Energizer Bernie has passed. Thoughts are with you and the family.
Hey Ken, Thanks for coming back, and thank you for your nice message about Cody. I admittedly don’t post much anymore, and that’s a little bit because I felt like I was being redundant/boring and would rather save up for when I have a meatier project to share, and also because I’m publishing about 4 posts a week for other sites and that eats up a lot of my time. Nonetheless, if you’re on Instagram, follow me @merrypad because I’m certainly more active there these days. Happy New Year!
