Lack of lighting was one of the first things we noticed when we moved into this house; specifically, in the living room, which has nothing in the overhead department, not even a switch to control an outlet. Whether lamps.com knew about this when they reached out to me or not, it was one of those sponsorship opportunities that I couldn’t turn down because, well, lamps. Give me all of the lamps. No, really, I’m serious. Lamps.
I pretty much had my pick at any of their products within a reasonable price limit (for some reason they said no to this arc lamp beauty that would have totally transformed my living room). Lamps.com had a list of products that it was promoting via bloggers at the time, but nothing on the list was quite my style, so I was relieved that they were OK with me going off the path a little bit to pick something that was really right for my home. What I found in the Cameron Light Stain HGTV Table Lamp ended up being a great fit, with a light wood base and a modern shape with a subtle detail in the shade. It’s a good scale where it serves us well here, in the corner that’s usually totally occupado with an excess of baby accoutrements, but not so large that it couldn’t fit well on a side table in the bedroom if things shift around over the years. It’s a keeper.
The whole HGTV line of lamps was actually really nice, I browsed it because it happened to labeled with a brand I recognized and like. The Cameron Dark Stain HGTV Lamp–which though related by name looks nothing like what I picked out–has a cool Moroccan flair, and the Clear HGTV Table Lamp caught my eye because of that great red cord running through it.
I haven’t done loads of shopping for replacement ceiling fans yet for our home, but I caught myself browsing the lamps.com options and liked the Aurora Hugger Fan where the light sits above the fan blades (that’s kind of cool, right? Would it make for an annoying strobe effect though? Can I try it before I buy it?)
The site was easy to browse, a must when it comes to shopping through sites with massive inventories like this. Search by color, by style, by brand (never mind that I misread Minka-Aire and Minka-Lavery as Minka Kelly about 400 times, as in, “Minka Kelly has a line of lamps? That’s super weird.” – not their fault).
Thanks to lamps.com for brightening our way. Opinions and content in the post are completely my own. Now go drool over their lighting inventory, because you really might find something you like.

Love the lamp you picked out! I really liked that Moroccan style one too, but can’t justify the price for a small accent lamp (I would’ve gone $80, but $110??). The cool arch lamp is on backorder, so I guess they didn’t want any help pushing that one. :-) I’m needing a floor lamp to go in the center of my living room near the sofa, but not wanting one that reaches out over the furniture — I’ll see what they have available. Very smart of lamps.com to target us blogger subscribers who spend ALL of our surplus funds on our homes……and then some…….quite an addicting fun hobby, this home DIY stuff!
Smarties indeed. I hope you find something you like; I have a few others flagged for consideration as we continue to save up for improvements. But as much as I love spending surplus on lights, what I really need around here is some good area rugs… $$$
Emily, you neeeeeeeeed the arc lamp! Since the weather is getting nice, maybe you can have a garage sale to offset the cost!!!
Have a great week ~
