Excitedly started my paper-white bulbs today!
The garden’s nasturtiums and zinnias kept my house full of blossoms through late October (at least the first frost held off that long!), but I want plants and flowers all year round if I can manage it. I bought a bag of paperwhite bulbs this fall, anxious to grow the narcissus in some tiny (multifunctional) candle holders on my kitchen windowsill, and today was the day to start the growing process!
I’ve never tried to plant the old bulbs outside once I try to force them to grow inside (I’ve read that doesn’t work well), but will I be able to force some old bulbs to grow inside again? I started a little experiment using last year’s bulbs and some of this year’s – last year’s are in the center and right glasses. A bulb from this year is on the left. We’ll see!
