There’s not much special I can say about the doorknobs in my house, except that I did swipe a vintage glass one from an upstairs closet and install it on the paned glass door instead of buying a new one.
So, when I came across an ornate doorknob in Anthropologie, I had to have it. (You’re totally thinking that’s the only place I shop, right?). What’s not to love? It’s heavy ceramic, painted ivory, and has pretty metallic lace pinned to the surface. Oh, and it was $7.95. (OK, You definitely think I live in the sale section at Anthro. I can hear you whispering.)
Paired with the vintage lockset, it looks darling by itself and is a nice upgrade from the ordinary.

It’s fun seeing what details other folks go for in their houses. We’re very typical in our house – shooting for putting antique bronze doorknobs on everything over time – the kind you can pick up at the local big box.
Agreed – sometimes the most ornate details (especially in older homes) are overlooked. I’ve found some goodies at the big box stores too – and even more at the smaller chains like Ace, True Value, etc. I’ll be posting more and more of these “dainty” details over time so check back :)
Anthro has great hardware :) I love their Tea House Doorknobs and want to put them in our house if I ever fall into a big pile of money.
I’ll have to check that collection out in person. I’d find a reason to buy anything in that store… And I’d bet there’s a good chance it’ll end up in the sale section soon :)
Ok Emily, we definitely have the same taste in anthro, I used that same knob for a little aquarium makeover, except mine was teal. http://www.compartmentlife.com/2010/12/furniture-facelift-shannons-aquarium-base/
Cute!! I love it in teal. Do you remember if they had other colors too? Now I’m curious.
