We had our first note-worthy snowfall of the season in Rochester yesterday, which unfortunately halted the crew working on my siding, but allowed me plenty of time to veg out in my warm house, hang lights, and covet winter boots online.
One thing I need to master this winter is proper snow boot storage in my dining room. Cody and I leave through the back door on a daily basis for our walks, but getting back in with wet boots and paws is a pain. An obvious need is a nice absorbent runner in the doorway (last year’s tiny 1.5’x3′ rug got ragged out quick). As for my boots, I did some hunting for possible boot storage systems that would fit underneath my built in shelves (out of the way), and came up with a few options:
- Crafty option: Fill a boot tray with stones, so that when you take off your shoes, the water drains down, but your boots don’t have to sit in water.
- Modern option: Keep an IKEA STOLMEN on the runner. I like it because it’s sleek.
- Tiered option: The unfinished folded Target rack is appealing… and I could paint it easily.
- What about a basket lined with an absorbent towel?
