I dropped another 10.5 hours into the shaggy bear rug project last week (stopping because my fingers are once again blistered, I ran out of fabric, and to fill myself with Christmas pierogis, cookies, and holiday loving).
In any case, my 32 total hours of active latch hooking has been paying off, because I’m clearly nearing completion, the only issue being that the varied colors of my dyed fabric make bear look a little more like a topographic map than a consistently dyed rug. Yes, I will be trying to even out the colors.
If all things go as planned, this baby bear will be done the next time you see it. Rawr.
Update: Fast forward yourself 1 week and see the finished rug here.

Maybe the color inconsistency is a good thing. I like it and would have thought it was part of the overall intention. I like to pay attention to the mistakes that happen and sometimes rolling with them is what gives a piece magic. sometimes we become to controlling of our work and we can be our worst enemies. Man Ray to Vaugn Oliver always used mistakes, two formative figures one in modern art and the later (a lot later) in grunge design.
Each update only makes me want to do this more. Somehow my eyes glance over the finger blisters and it doesn’t get registered in my mind. This looks so good!
Thanks Gloria! Blisters aside, the project has been a lot of fun. Can’t wait to get the last bit of fabric (this will be my 4th time buying) and get it DONE.
It’s crazy how much work you’ve done on this! It’s going to look awesome :)
