We found our first horseshoe in the backyard last night. We know that the previous owners once had horses at one point (other families on the street have told us this, though the stables in the lower level of the barn had clued us in), but this is the first remnant that we’ve come across documenting their existence. It was actually found by someone that had been our backyard for two minutes for the first time ever that spied it, which goes to show how a fresh set of eyes has the ability to see things that you’ve overlooked for months, even though you apparently mowed right over it/next to it yesterday. In fact, almost every time I tour someone through our house, they end up pointing something out that I hadn’t paid attention to before, what a weird phenomenon.
How many more might we find when begin to transform the back half of the yard into a vegetable garden?
I love this place.
